A Sharing Education Programme is in its second year of a three year programme at St John’s College, Dromore. Every pupil from Dromore PS and Tummery PS travel to St John’s every Thursday and Friday afternoon for joint cross community tailored classes in Art, ICT, Drama and Sport.
Other joint events arranged include a residential trip to Gortatole, Maths Trails, Nerve Centre iPad workshop and training days for all the staff from each of the schools. At the end of the year a Showcase event is held which give parents an opportunity to view the children’s work.
The Sharing Education Programme at St John’s College was inspected by the Department of Education in February 2017 and received an extremely positive report.
Inspectors “found that there were high quality experiences of Art, Drama, ICT and Sports activities. Interaction was very well-facilitated; children were able to build on relationships first established at play school. Children given opportunities to develop teamwork skills and that there was good development of oracy and literacy skills throughout the activities.”
